MEX invites you to explore sustainability through the “small moments at home” at Bangkok Design Week 2026

MEX participates in Bangkok Design Week 2026 by presenting an urban living perspective through food, time, and the management of household resources, under the theme:

“ONE MEAL. LESS ENERGY. LESS WASTE.”

Through this exhibition, MEX invites visitors to see that sustainability can begin from small moments at home. By thoughtfully designing kitchen appliances that help ease everyday living and enable more efficient use of resources, MEX demonstrates how sustainability can be naturally integrated into the modern urban lifestyle.

The Kitchen Sink: Where Food Waste Management Begins

One of the key ideas presented by MEX is rethinking the kitchen sink as the first checkpoint for food waste—before it flows into the city’s large-scale water system. For MEX, the sink is not merely a kitchen fixture, but the starting point of waste management at its source.

An example of this design philosophy, known as MEX Thinking, is the MEX Big Basket—a large sink strainer with a dense, fine filtration structure. This proprietary MEX design is engineered to significantly enhance the capture of food waste.

The MEX Big Basket delivers a filtration efficiency of up to 99%, effectively trapping food scraps before they enter the drain, while still maintaining a high water flow rate of 89%. This ensures smooth drainage without clogging. When combined with a P-trap, the system provides an additional layer of food waste retention, enabling more complete reduction of waste before it reaches the wastewater system.

Kitchen Tools Designed for Urban Living

At the exhibition, MEX presents kitchen appliances that go beyond cooking. Each product is thoughtfully designed to support the urban lifestyle—making everyday living more convenient while enabling more responsible use of resources.

The range hood is one of the key appliances that contributes to indirect energy savings. By efficiently removing heat and steam from the kitchen, it helps reduce heat accumulation inside the home, lowering the need for additional cooling. At the same time, it improves indoor air quality by reducing indoor air pollution caused by cooking activities such as stir-frying, frying, and grilling, including PM2.5, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and airborne grease particles.

MEX Heat Reflector: Enhancing Energy Efficiency

Another innovation showcased at the exhibition is the MEX Heat Reflector, an accessory designed for gas cooktops that concentrates and reflects heat directly toward the base of the cookware. This targeted heat distribution allows food to cook faster and more evenly, while minimizing energy loss.

Using the MEX Heat Reflector can improve cooking efficiency by approximately 10–20%, helping to reduce gas consumption and shorten cooking time. This innovation is particularly suited to the urban lifestyle, where time efficiency and smart energy use are essential.

Talk: “Small Kitchen Choices That Change the World Every Day”

As part of the exhibition, MEX presents a short talk titled
“Small Kitchen Choices That Change the World Every Day”
by Dharath Hoonchamlong.

The talk will take place on 7 February 2026, from 4:00–5:00 PM,
at TCDC Rooftop Garden, 5th Floor.

This session explores how small, everyday decisions made in the kitchen can create long-term impacts on individual lifestyles, urban living, and the environment.
